
The Assembly whose key mandate is legislation, representation and oversight has played a critical role in promoting democracy and good governance. This has seen the House pass six Bills this year.
The critical Bills passed this year are;
- The Nakuru County Supplementary Budget and Appropriation Bill, 2019
- The Nakuru County Enterprise Fund, 2019
- The Nakuru County Co-operatives Revolving Development Fund Bill, 2019
- The Nakuru County Tourism and Marketing Bill, 2019
- The Nakuru County Finance Bill, 2019
- The Nakuru County Trade Bill, 2019
The Nakuru County Co-operatives Revolving Development Fund Bill, 2019: This will change the thriving cooperative landscape in Nakuru as the Municipality gears up to achieve city status. The fund will provide low interest loans to cooperative institutions with a view to scaling up their lending activities. It will also improve entrepreneurship and productivity.
The Nakuru County Trade Bill, 2019: Nakuru has an estimated 50,000 hawkers and for the first time, they will participate in the county’s devolution programs. The County public-private sector forum shall be an avenue for consultation and dialogue on matters affecting the private sector.
The Nakuru County Enterprise Fund, 2019: Will seek to provide accessible capital and credit by micro and small enterprises (SMEs). It will also empower women, youth and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through financial support for their enterprises and reduce poverty and increase household income in the county.
The Nakuru County Tourism and Marketing Bill, 2019:This will help market Nakuru at National, Regional and International levels as a premier tourism and filming destination hence thrive the sector hence creating employment in the hospitality industry while farmers will supply fresh produce to hotels, boosting their earnings among other benefits.
The Nakuru County Supplementary Budget and Appropriation Bill, 2019: A total of Sh 373 Million additional funds have been allocated as Nakuru Municipality gears up for city status.
The Nakuru County Finance Bill, 2019: It will help seal revenue leakages
