Nakuru County has been granted the honour of hosting the County Assemblies Sports Games (CASA) in 2023. The official transfer of the event’s patronship took place at the Assembly precincts in a ceremony attended by esteemed guests, including county officials and CASA representatives. The Speaker of the County Assembly of Nakuru, Hon. Joel Karuri Maina was entrusted with the patronship of the CASA games for the year.
The handing-over ceremony symbolized the transition of responsibility from Mombasa County to Nakuru County. The Speaker of the Mombasa County Assembly, Hon. Khatri Aharub Ebrahim, graciously passed on the patronship of the CASA games to Hon. Joel Karuri Maina, recognizing Nakuru County’s ability to organize a successful and memorable event.
The CASA games serve as a platform to promote unity, talent and sportsmanship among County Assemblies. Nakuru County’s selection as the host reflects its commitment to excellence and positions it as a centre of sporting prowess for the year 2023.
Speaker Karuri humbly accepted the patronship role and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in Nakuru County. He assured participants and visitors that Nakuru County, with the collaboration of its officials and staff, would spare no effort to ensure the success of the CASA games.
The Assembly Clerk CPA Jane Waweru emphasized the county’s commitment to providing a warm and welcoming environment for all sports disciplines and highlighted Nakuru’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and status as a tourist destination, which will enhance the overall experience for participants.
The presence of county officials, CASA representatives, and esteemed guests at the handover ceremony showcased the collective commitment towards the success of the upcoming CASA games.
As preparations gain momentum, Nakuru County is fully prepared to embrace its role as the host of the CASA games. The event, scheduled to take place from August 19-27, 2023, promises to be a celebration of talent, unity, and friendly competition. With Nakuru County at the helm, the CASA games aim to captivate the nation and demonstrate the county’s capabilities as a premier sporting destination.
The County Deputy Governor of Nakuru, H.E David Kones, attended the handover ceremony and welcomed participants to Nakuru, describing the county as a tourist destination and a centre for adventure. He encouraged participants to take advantage of what Nakuru has to offer during and after the CASA events.
County officials, including County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers for Youths Sports Gender and Social Services, Education, Roads, and Agriculture, as well as Tourism, were also present at the ceremony along with CASA members.
