As the world commemorate International forest day, I led the honorable Members of the Nakuru County Assembly in an exercise of tree planting within the assembly premises to celebrate this auspicious day.
We are much aware of the good effort being put in place by the National government to preserve our forest cover, and that is why the Nakuru county government through the assembly has set aside Sh60 million which will be used in planting of trees in all our 55 wards.
I also call upon our Nakuru county residents to develop a culture of planting and conserving of trees.
The chairman of Environment committee Hon Joseph Kamau said the county was on the right path in the conservation of forests within our county.
He added that on 4th of April there shall be a launch of tree planting exercise in our respective wards.
Also the deputy speaker Hon Samuel Tonui was among the members who planted a tree during the exercise.
