During a meeting with the Speaker of the County Assembly of Nakuru, Hon Joel Karuri, a delegation from the Nakuru Public Participation fraternity expressed their appreciation for the cooperative relationship between the County Executive and the Assembly. The delegation was led by Daniel Murugu, Secretary of Nakuru County Public Opinion Consultative Initiative accompanied by Benson Macharia, Chairman of Friends of Devolution and Eliassif Magoma, Chair of Nakuru Residents Association.
Mr Murugu highlighted the significant contributions made by the fraternity to progressive public participation in Nakuru County since 2013. He acknowledged the Assembly’s fruitful collaboration with them and other stakeholders, particularly in the passage of bills and other official business. He also commended the County’s citizen-focused approach, recognizing its potential for development across various sectors.
At the same time, Mr Murugu appealed to the Speaker and the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to prioritize the passage of bills that directly and immediately impact the lives of local residents. He emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach in policy formulation and implementation, particularly regarding personnel recruitment and critical processes such as budget making.
“The delegation’s statement highlights their acknowledgement of the County’s citizen-focused approach and their call for continued cooperation between the County Executive and the Assembly. Their collaborative efforts have proven instrumental in the growth and development of Nakuru County, fostering an environment conducive to devolution community empowerment,” said Speaker Karuri.
